The Problem
Incoming students face high cognitive overload when learning to navigate a brand-new Learning Management System (LMS).
The Process
Conducted complete task analyses to break down critical software features into sequential, easy-to-follow steps.
Student surveys helped to determined that new students had no formal LMS orientation, felt overwhelmed by basic D2L tasks and navigation, and weren’t sure how to use D2L tools. Instructor feedback found that students were repeatedly asking the same questions. I scripted and recorded a series of introductory D2L program for new students to visually demonstrate complex sensory integration concepts.
The Solution
I scripted and recorded a series of introductory D2L videos for new students to visually demonstrate complex sensory integration concepts. In addition, I created an infographic with all support information for D2L use.

When students can’t confidently navigate D2L:
- They disengage quickly
- They miss deadlines
- They stop asking questions
- They assume they’re “bad students”
