The Pyramid Model for Social-Emotional Development is a framework designed to support young children’s social-emotional growth and prevent challenging behaviors. It provides a tiered approach to promoting positive relationships, creating supportive environments, and offering targeted interventions. The model consists of four levels:

  1. Universal Supports – Building nurturing relationships and creating high-quality, inclusive environments for all children.
  2. Targeted Supports – Implementing social-emotional teaching strategies to help children develop skills like emotional regulation, problem-solving, and friendship skills.
  3. Intensive Interventions – Providing individualized support for children with persistent behavioral challenges.
  4. Foundational Systems – Ensuring strong program-wide policies, professional development, and family engagement to sustain the model.

By following this framework, educators and caregivers can foster emotional well-being, reduce behavioral issues, and create a positive learning environment for all children.
